Wow, you just confirmed that 'theory' that I've been trying to figure out. It is that when Windows XP was released, Microsoft claimed that it was not based on DOS, like Win 98. Does this mean though that Microsoft rebuilt Windows 98 in a non DOS environment? And, I would somewhat disagree with you on Win 98 being king of the hills. Either Win 2000 or Windows Server 2003. Windows Server 2003 has even better security than Vista based on recent data... and 2000 has almost as good security as server 2003. 98 and 95 tend to BSOD sometimes, unlike server 2003, because it was built for buisnesses and HAD to be stable. Some people I know use Windows Server 2003 in their home computers as the default OS

which I find kind of wierd, but I have always wanted to try that myself... I just never got my hands on one of them CD's

Well, thanks for sharing the MS-DOS info with me

didn't know that until now...
