It could take some time to fully populate your
..pd3 database. Once this has completed it
should speed things up somewhat. The .pd3
files contains your thumbs and metadata.

Also, try closing all programs before opening
the Library...and doing some maintenance
might help if you have not done it recently.

Running Disk Cleanup, Error Checking and
Defrag on a regular schedule is a good idea.
