Having a lot of files in My Pictures will certainly slow things down. It is
generally advised to not have a lot in that folder. Especially, adding
extra folders within My Pictures will definitely slow it down. You could
make a new folder on C drive called Photos to store them in. I only use My
Pictures to store images I download from the net until I either move them
into another folder of burn them to disc. When I upload photos from my
camera they go straight into the C: Photos folder. No slowing of the
computer that way.
