Download System added - Now fully loaded!

Hello all,

I have finished working on the downloads section. It is almost done I think. For each file you upload a new thread will be automatically created in the Software releases forum for discussions. Here is a few points to remember:

1. URL: http://www.techtalkz.com/downloads.html ( See the Downloads link in the top navigation bar).

2. Only direct linking to the files is enabled for now. ie. You cannot upload a file from your system to this section.

3. I have added only four categories now. Feel free to suggest more categories and sub categories.

4. Here is how you can add the files. Just click on add link in the navigation bar in the downloads section:

5. Now you need to enter

• Proper title with version
• The Product author name / Company name
• A brief description of the file with screenshots if any.
• Select the proper category from the dropdown list.
• Direct link to the download file.
• Approximate size of the file in bytes.

Here is the screenshot of an example addition:



6. Now click on add file and you're done. A new thread will be automatically added in the Software Releases forum for discussions. @Mods: Feel free to move them to the correct categories.

I hope the procedure is easy and clear. Feel free to give us your feed back.

the system section looks like the same as Download freeware & shareware software programs, ebooks, screensavers, wallpapers, codecs, applications, utilities, drivers, games, downloads...
at the first time i thoult tht it will be an upload one, but nice add, TT is performing with time and technologie (Time and Technologie TT)

I have been noticing.. a Downloads and Uploads statistic in below users' names since the last few days.. good to see a detailed post from you.

Now don't u think there might be some illegal downloads here???

And the free softwares are usually available on the softwares' own site!!!!!!
I don't understand.. its purpose???

Where willl this files be hosted??? on the TechTalkz server?? won't it make our server heavy???
And a browse button is missing i think...

Subcategories are not much important as may be unlimited ... But what I feel important is the main categories, and I think the main categories I suggested is the most comprehensive categorisation system. I think that may be followed.

In case of subcategories... I would like to see the following details
1)Freeware, Shareware, Demo, Nagware or TrialWare
2)Publisher's link, Download Link, Better Download site Link(Mirror)
3)Rating, Comments, feedback, Description
4) Date of release, date of posting, date of next update, version info ...
5)File Size (before install and after), Requirements, Tweaks.

Thats all for now ... currently my focus is on to the Primary categorisation format ... as I suggested above.

Great suggestions softhunter.. I'll look into them when i get back my room after holidays..

@friend_sunit: Yes, all these tools are available in the author's site. What we are doing is simply making a collection of them and sharing the info. Currently we are not planning to host any files due to a number of reasons, copyright issues being the No: 1.

well strider it really take time but if ya willnt find someone u can swith it to a request one where when something is uploaded it must be checked by u or maybe another member.
