best xvid/avi to dvd converter?

What's the general consensus on the best tool to convert from
downloaded video (avi of divx, etc) to a DVD that'll play in a normal
DVD player under OS X? I have Toast already. Bonus points if it
copes nicely with PAL and NTSC without going out of synch...

iDVD has been able to do it when I've dragged Xvid or Divx into it.
Usually faster than Toast has, too - probably because Toast was
running under Rosetta.

I use MovieGate a lot. It includes the ability to create DVD menus as
well.
