I was hoping we would get some new direction with the > Apple II series but it didnt pan out that way. Maybe next time I hope so. I remain very supportive of efforts to increase the level of participation and creation in the Apple II community. I think we should encourage it in as many forms as possible, with as few limits as possible. For example, I (and I suspect many others) work on Apple projects as time allows, which is highly variable depending on family committments, etc., so any limitations on development timeframe (apart from being "done by submisssion time", of course) is problematic. Further, many developments of great utility are "derived works" based on earlier software (ADTPro, for example) so this limitation is unfortunate. (BTW, I note that the excellent work of Jean Marc Boutillon also seems to be derived from Locksmith, but I may be wrong.) Finally, joint activites involving several people are to be encouraged, not discouraged, so the "sole creator" limitation is a problem. The "contest" and "winning" concepts are actually much less important motivating factors than providing the encouragement of collective acknowledgement, and I can't think of a more appropriate forum for that acknowledgement than Call-A.P.P.L.E. -michael NadaNet networking for Apple II computers! Locksmith Fast Copy isn't 6-2 compliant, so it can't be used as a basis for a .dsk creator tool. Paul Guertin posted a source code one year ago in the comp.emulators.apple2 group (about "Apple Games Disassembly Project", READDAT2 -- Reads data field and denibblizes on the fly). Fastdsk has the same visual aspect but isn't derived from Locksmith. JM Boutillon |

Right--I thought you were reading in "scrambled" mode and converting afterward to the disk image. ;-) > Paul Guertin posted a source code one year ago in the > comp.emulators.apple2 group (about "Apple Games Disassembly Project", > READDAT2 -- Reads data field and denibblizes on the fly). My apologies for suggesting "derivation". -michael NadaNet networking for Apple II computers!
