Need some GPU advice

My Specs:

AMD Athlon64 3400+ 2.25GHz
2x 512MB DDR PC3200
ABIT KV8-MAX3 (Socket 754)
ATi Radeon x800PRO (AGP)
Thermaltake Purepower 500 P/N W0100RU

I realize that my computer is old and outdated. I'm going to be playing Call of Duty 4, and upon recent download of the demo, I realized that the FPS that my x800 gets me is unacceptable. I've been looking at possibilities for upgrading my GPU, and I know that since I can only have an AGP card, and that my system specs aren't that great, whatever card I get isn't going to be amazing because of slower bandwidth and bottlenecking. Nevertheless, I've decided on one of these two cards:

GECUBE Radeon x1950PRO http://www.newegg.com/product/prod [...] 6814241041

EVGA GeForce 7600GS http://www.newegg.com/product/prod [...] 6814130076

Someone also suggested a 7800 to me.
Anyways, Any advice could help. I seriously need a new card, so should I go for the x1950, to suck out whatever I have left of this PC, or should I go for the 7600GS, because of the bottlenecking and price of the x1950. Any other contributions would be helpful as well. ty.

Re: Need some GPU advice

The radeon x1950Pro is a much better card than 7600GS or even the 7800 in Performance!!

But if you want a cheaper card then 7600GS is better.

Benchmark : X-bit labs - Midheavyweights: ATI Radeon X1950 Pro against Nvidia GeForce 7900 GS

noway, Baku the 1950PRO is better then 7800, no matter if its agp or pci express...why don't you go to www.tomshardware.com and go to the graphics card chart comparisons, and you too mrshow, go to the site and see if any graphics card that you might find fancy in.......

Then you can get a check on that graphics card and see if it is or below the current budget you have, otherwise get a 7900 or better instead, the two graphics card you mentioned will not get you any future playable frame rates in the not so distant future......And it wouldn't be worth it buying the 1950PR since that is also a poor performer against many and also its bigger brothers such as the 1950XTX and X series, but you wouldn't want to get the 1950PRO play COD4 for about 2 weeks and then another new game you wanna play and you will end up 25 FPS on COD4 to just 2.5 on the new game....so if ur really that desperate for a new card, look at other options instead (in your budget) otherwise just wait for a bit and the prices' might come crashing down that will make you invest your slightly increased budget in a much better card......or you might consider building a new system!!!

and btw ppls...best benchmarking and news on new tech and old tech is definitely the only and best and leave the rest:

Re: Need some GPU advice

oh ma bad!!!! I got lost in the typeing...lolz...
I meant that the x1950pro is not better then the 7800 in performance, becoz the 1950PRO is cut down performance version of its bigger brothers the X AND XTX versions.....

But also depends which 7800 ur talking about...

1950PRO = 7800GT
1950PRO > 7800GS (or possibily the same)
1950PRO < 7800GTX by heaps
