Exclamation Need help: audio not working!!

Hello,

I am having some computer problems and I came to the one source I know I can count on: you guys.

Heres the problem: I have just gotten a virus (long story, dont feel like explaining it). Anyway, the only way to get rid of it was to reformat my harddrive, which in turn wiped out all my drivers. I have reinstalled everything i could, but I am having trouble with my audio drivers. When i first boot my computer up, it said it found "Soundmax Digital Audio". But when I try to install their driver, i get an error saying "driver not found" (thats the idea, i dont have the driver). I have also tried to install two separate PCI sound boards, neither of which fixed the problem. The first worked for about a day, then crapped out on me.

Here are my specs:

Sony Vaio desktop running Windows XP SP2
Intel Pentium dual processors, each at 2.80GHz, Foxconn p450 VX mobo with integrated audio (that's what i would like it fix if possible, then second priority is the pci sound cards)

if you need any more information please ask

Thanks in advance,
Agway46

Re: Need help: audio not working!!

you can try to google the sounds card's name, go to the web site & download the latest drivers there.

Re: Need help: audio not working!!

I can't find a P450 VX motherboard in Foxconns product lists. Are you sure it's correct?

Check this page:

http://driverscollection.com/?V=Foxconn&S=4

Also can you provide the model number for your Sony laptop?
