.WAV files hangs HP Pavilion dv9233cl notebook with Vista Home Premium

In the course of my work, I download approximately 40-50 .wav audio files per day. Probably once an hour the audio starts stuttering, repeating at a machine gun pace a word or 2, effectively locking the machine up. Task manager does not work. Nothing works. Since it is a lap top, I have to pull the electric cord out, and then disconnect the battery to get it to stop and re-boot.

The machine is an HP Pavilion dv9233cl notebook with Vista Home Premium stalled. I have a desk top machine with XP on it and have never had this problem. I have installed the latest Conexant driver and still does it.

Any help would be appreciated.

keep open taskmanager while playing the song and see the processor utilization when it hangs and which process is using the maximum cpu. and which player do you use to hear the wav files ? Play it in Media Player classic or VLC player and see if you still face the sudden hangs.

My big cousin had a similar problem on her Acer..but it was due to 512MB of RAM not sufficient enough for the things that she was doing.
