Video Card not working

Recently my video card stopped working or so I thought, my screen went black. Well, I plugged in my factory video card and it worked. So I automatically thought it was my vid card, so I bought a new card. Well the new card doesn't work either. I don't quite understand, I'm staying under my power usage and I have fairly new ram. Could someone help me out. I used my old Card for a year and a half, and it just quit working...

Which PSU are you using ? What is the model of your old card that is working and the new card that isn't working ?

I'm using a slimline s3020n, duo core proc Amd athlon 62 x2 3800+ 2.00 ghz
with 1.5 gb of ram. My old video card that stopped working is a 7200gs I think or maybe le. My new card is a 7300le, the 7200 I used for almost 2 years. Now I'm using the factory card 6100le, which are all low profile cards due to the size of the slimline.

Sounds like your card has been blacked out....meaning dead..either overheated or extremely overclocked. Its best if you purchase another Low Profile card. You can easily pick up a 4350 or a 8400GS for about below $80 these days.

But my problem is that no cards are working in that slot, even the brand new one I bought. I also noticed that if I let my pc run, then plug my card in it kills the power to it. A friend told me it may be that I need a bigger power supply box even if I do meet the requirments.

it might be a problem with your mobo slot too. Which motherboard do you use ? Does it have any on board video ?

It does have an onboard video card, which I never took out because I have to remove the motherboard to, I think. So I use the only slot it has other then the ram slots. I install the vid cards, fan comes on the vid card everything seems like its working. Well when I plug my monitor in no picture......So I take my monitor and plug it into my onboard vid card, and everything works. It seems the slot is working because the fan on the vid card is coming on. But my pc isn't picking up that slot at all, usually on vista it will give you an update that its reading the new hardware. Well I got none, even went into my pc control panel to see if its showing up under display devices ect. Nothing, so some way or another I assume my pc isn't reading my card, for why I dunno. Thats what I'm trying to figure out.

onboard video card or onboard video chipset ? if you mean you already have a video card installed, then you need to remove that card and insert new card.

I assume a chipset, because it has no slot for it. Just a place to plug in your monitor, and today I installed my old px358le. Which worked up to the vista emblem then the computer killed all power. Guess I'll buy a bigger power supply.

You mean you saw the vista logo and then the computer shutdown or restart ?
