Monitor Issues

Hey everybody, a buddy of mine is having some issues with his monitor, and I was hoping that somebody here might be able to help us out.

He recently moved, and when he plugged his computer in at the new apartment, it worked fine for about 5 minutes, when the monitor when blank. He says the power light on the monitor goes yellow, like it does when the monitor is on but the computer is off. This apparently has been happening every time he restarts his computer.

I don't know if this helps or not, but he has a Sony Trinitron Multiscan 200ES.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a bunch!

Re: Monitor Issues

Try disconnecting the VGA/DVI cable from the monitor and turn the monitor on. Check to see if it goes off to the orange light. If it does the monitor is faulty, if it doesn't then he could have a bad VGA cable or his video card could be going bad.

Does the monitor turn back on when he moves the mouse or does this problem occur when he is actively using the PC?
