Multiple monitors but one graphics card slot
I'm not very technically literate so apologies in advance if my queries sound puerile. We have an HP Pavilion Elite 420 NL and want to work with three monitors (with each used separately and not as one big mega-screen).
We've tried the Matrox TripleHead2Go but soon realised that a one big screen solution is not what we need. I would have liked to add a graphics card to the one we already have but found (to my dismay!) that there is no other slot for a graphics card in the motherboard (the only one there is, is being used by the current graphics card). Is there: a. an external graphics card I can use? b. a possible substitute to the current card? (Perhaps a Matrox graphics card?) c. give up and work with two monitors only (as i'm doing now)?! Re: Multiple monitors but one graphics card slot
A substitute graphics card that supports three monitors shouldn't be hard to find, but may be a little bit pricey (im guessing around £100/$200). Find out what kind of graphics card slot your motherboard has (almost certainly PCIe), then get back to us and we can probs recommend something suitable.

Thanks Habibjp for volunteering help! The slot is a PCI express x16.

Re: Multiple monitors but one graphics card slot
Advertisement Hmm more than 2 monitors on a single card might be more expensive than i thought! Also seems to be quite hard to get hold of the cards. However, it's still worth having a lookie on the manufacturer's websites (workstation graphics pages): nVidia AMD/ATi
