by Hemanth on December 23, 2008

Ever wondered of how it feels to be in Space where a Zero-Gravity condition exists? Well Hollywood always demonstrates the flying objects and gravity free movements in all those Sci-Fi movies. But here is a chance to experience the near Zero – gravity experience brought to you by Symantec and Techcrunch Blast Off With Norton. event.

All the first place winners (two prizes) will get the Zero-G experience and the Grand Price is a Sub-orbital space flight. Details below:

GRAND PRIZE WINNER – SUB-ORBITAL SPACEFLIGHT

In an unprecedented sensory experience, rocket engines boost you beyond the normal limits of flight to regions above 62 miles (100 kilometers) – where space begins. After the engines shutdown, you will experience up to five minutes of continuous weightlessness, all the while gazing at the vast blackness of space and the blue horizon of the Earth below.

FIRST PLACE WINNERS- ZERO-GRAVITY EXPERIENCE

The Zero-Gravity Experience is a half-day program in which you will be inspired by hearing firsthand what space is like and about the uses of Weightless Flight direct from a veteran astronaut. You will also learn how to maximize your time in zero gravity and officially become Weightless Certified.

The bad news is this contest is only for US residents and you must be of age 18 or above.. So if you qualify the above requirements and need a lift to the space go on and register now.

The first place winners will be boarded for the Zero G flight on February 21, 2009. I am not quite sure about the cost factor but I read recently that the Zero-G flight costs around USD $200,000 and the Sub-orbital flight costs a minimum of USD $ 35 million. A huge budget indeed!

I assume this promo is also supported by the Zero Gravity Corporation and Virgin Galactic. If you’re interested in the technical side of the Zero-G and the Sub-orbital flight refer here and here.
