Did you ever wondered if anybody else is using your beloved Gmail account? or Is there any way to monitor the account activity? Ok, Google got a solution, not much advanced but fair enough to identify the recent IP addresses used to access the account. Google help page says that the recent activity includes any times that your mail was accessed, using a regular web browser, through a POP client, from a mobile device, etc. The list includes the IP address from which the access was made, as well as the time and date.

What a nightmare it was, to get this error yesterday, when I was booting my Laptop as usual.

BOOTMGR is MISSING
Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to Restart

I had never heard of this so, came online on my desktop and searched around different blogs, search engines & forums. The problem actually meant that the boot sector is corrupted and needs to be corrected. I got a lot of simple solutions around.The most common one and seemingly working one was :-

Easy fix to the “BOOTMGR IS MISSING” error on startup:

1. Boot to the Vista installation DVD.
2. Select Repair Your Computer
3. From the system recovery options menu, select Command Prompt
4. From the command prompt, run “bootrec /fixboot” (no quotes), which will re-write the Windows Vista boot sector code.
5. Exit command prompt and reboot the system.

Seems like, I did this and everything was fine?? No.. at least for me it was not :(.
Actually, my Laptop came with pre-loaded Vista Home Premium and hence, did not have any Vista Installation DVD. What was I to do??

I had to use the Recovery Disc provided with my Laptop. But the only problem for me was, that this Recovery Disc gave me the Laptop in its factory state. In simple words, all data would be lost.

For me it was safe, as I had ‘reset’ it to factory state just the earlier day. Then, again I installed the necessary softwares and now everything seems to be fine for me.

But, what to do with this buggy vista?? I am thinking to install Windows XP on the Laptop, to get rid of such errors. Or another thing, that can be done is to wait for SP1 final release. I hope that a lot of bugs must have been corrected in Vista SP1.

Another important thing! Why are buyers of computers with pre-loaded OS (especially Vista), not provided with a Installation disc of the OS??? A question that remains unanswered…… Do you know why??

Have you ever got an error like this?? while accessing sites like Orkut or YouTube??

I also didn’t get ;). But a friend of mine was facing trouble with something of this type sometime back. He had asked me for solution, but I couldn’t help him at that time. So, at last he had to format his hard drive and re-install the Operating System.

But, today while surfing friend’s website, I found the solution.

If you are getting the error, follow the following steps.

1. Go to the Task manager

2. Click on the “Application” Tab

3. Right Click on the application that’s giving you the Message, then select Go to Process.

4. Now you’ll find “svchost.exe” Highlighted.

5. Right Click and Select “End Process Tree”

6. Now go to My computer, in the address bar type- C:\heap41a and hit enter.

7. Now delete all the files visible in this folder.

8. Go to Start > Run and type Regedit

9. Go to the menu and click on Edit> Find

10. Type “heap41a” and hit Enter. You will get something below:

“[winlogon] C:\heap41a\svchost.exe C:\heap(some number)\std.txt”

Select that and Press DEL. It will ask “Are you sure you want to delete this value?”, click Yes

11. Close the registry editor, that’s it, no more haha. You can now open Orkut without any problems.

Hope you got rid of this stupid and annoying virus. And do help your friends out with this. Because this forbids them to meet you at websites like Orkut :).

Don’t know about you.. But when i saw this video… (as a result of a comment on an older post, where I had called MS Paint ‘useless’), I was just shocked!!!!

Actually I used to think MS Paint to be a useless software, so had comment that. But someone posted a response with this video. Until I had seen this video.. I couldn’t believe myself. Lets see if you believe.

Can you draw something like this using the MS-Paint in your computer. At least I can’t, though I know about all the few tools of MS-Paint. But see this video. This car had been drawn using Ms-Paint. The whole drawing process is here.
