Remove Unwanted Windows Shell Extensions using ShellExView

Ever wondered how all these items are showing up when you right click on a file or anywhere in your explorer. These are Shell extensions which are basically COM objects to help windows to extend it’s functionalities and provide easier access to many features from a simple right click menu. Most of the application programs are using the shell extensions for ease of use.

For example: If you install WinZip on your computer, you’ll see a special WinZip menu when you right-click on a Zip file. This menu is created by adding a shell extension to the system.

Now how can  you view the list of shell extensions in your computer? There is a simple freeware tool available tool to view and edit the shell extensions.

The ShellExView utility displays the details of shell extensions installed on your computer, and allows you to easily disable and enable each shell extension. ShellExView can be used for solving context-menu problems in Explorer environment.
