A friend has an ADSL connection with BE we both downloaded the same file from the same site at the same time the other day he was getting 50% faster speed than what I was with my XL connection he only has 12. something or other fromBE . What is the use of complaining to ANY VM personnel by any means news group support only come back with the same bullshit, called India the other week told the guy my connection was down and could not on the net at all he immediately asked me to down load four files from gamefiles all hope went out the window at that point. |

I am just waiting for a " tag" to be removed from my BT line which should be next Friday then maybe a couple of weeks or less for an ADSL connection to kick in then it will be goodbye VirginMedia and for good this time . This is the only way to get value for money there days I am afraid sod paying over thirty pounds a month and only getting the use of a fiversworth of it . |

It's a damn shame considering they are the only company in a position to offer 20 Mbps broadband to lots of people. That's the trouble when you rely on 'debt financing' or whatever the clowns posing as financial whizzes call it when 90% of your income is accounted for in interest repayments. The company is virtually bankrupt AIUI. Graham |

He should post in the VM support groups. It also suggests that Virgin's connections to the wider Internet may have insufficient capacity. No great surprise there, that bit costs serious money. That site reports the following for me on an 8128 kbps sync / 7150 profile. http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/res...1899&v=2862223 The problem as ever it seems is that Virgin simply doesn't have (or won't buy) the bandwidth required to make its services work as advertised. The 20 Mbps is only words and advertising hype Graham the company does not give this speed to its customers the max I ever get is 16 occasionally usually it is 8 or 9 . |

I have thought about what you are saying above a lot over the last 18 months or so and if ( and it remains for someone to prove it) VM are deliberately not buying and providing sufficient resources to meet demand surly they are leaving themselves open to prosecution from a body like trading standards ! . |

Is their stuff down to Cable and Wireless or whatever the glassware suppliers are called these days? Because if that's the case, maybe 10% (or more) of their consumers are illegally plugged in by fitters doing dodgy deals by moonlight. |

Their inability to SUPPLY an actual reliable 20Mbps connection is nothing to do with any failing of the technology. Graham |
