Until they are forced to reveal the level of provision they have and it is deemed
to be inadequate, they can claim that they have enough to satisfy most people.

I just tried it and got 3938 from the 4M service. Maybe it depends on which part of the VM network you are connected to.

That is exactly how it is.
The evidence points to the techs telling you that the company are over
subscribed, and there's nothing they can really do, apart from maybe
givin you a new modem in return for a cup of tea and the use of your
toilet.

People bein told by managers that they have no cause to complain as they
are covered by the *up to* in their advertising.

Another thing that is now coming more to light is the money they are
makin from customers unaware of the STM, and unaware that this is the
reason for their slow speeds, phoning up the 25p a minute support line
and havin to go through a script, when, if Virgin Media had informed all
of their customers about the STM, like any responsible ISP wud do...
then customers wud be wiser to what it is that may be affectin their
connection, and wouldn't have to call the 25p a minute support line.

A vast majority of Virgins income goes on the debt repayments.

A good forum to read is http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/
There is techs and VM staff that post on there, tellin people how bad
their own company is, and tellin you things that Virgin Media wud rather
you didn't know.

As a result of this, there is always warnings that they might lose their
job for gross misconduct )

Things have gone too far for Virgin Media now I think.
The constant promises of upgrades to remedy all this mess since the
introduction of the 20MB, that they quite obviously cannot supply, the
ever increasin complaints made about slow speeds for no apparent
reason... all of this has now come to the point where something has to
be done, AND SOON!

Thankyou )

Good point...
The general thinkin is that if you can get a decent enuff speed from the
big server next door, then there's nothing wrong.
Many people will accept this and walk away.
Many people will phone the 25p a minute support line, stay on for a few
quid, and will come away acceptin this.

Would I be right in saying that the throughput of a very poor quality
20Mb/s line could be lower than when running that same line at say
4Mb/s; this is what appears to have happened in my case.

(VM are now going to replace the line from the property to the cabinet
- about 70metres)
