No - it is more complex than that! The router sees the standard Netgear
software as an incompatible upgrade. You have to go via the emergency
recovery system.

Like EVERYTHING Sky supply the free routers are the customers property from
the day they arrive.

I've read the newer Sky routers are unlockable - or at least proving more
difficult to unlock

Yeah, it does, as I found a link to a site that does exactly what I've
already done. I've retrieved the username and password as before, they
are the same.... having entered the exact same details as before, the
result will be the same, so I'm still stuck.

I ought to say at this point, I'm no stranger to configuring routers,
especially the Netgear range, but this one has got me stumped, because,
from what i see, i have mirrored the Sky settings exactly.

Wierd! Before I sold the Netgear DG834 - which was my router prior to the
Sky one - I just extracted the username and password as you did. It connected
and peformed flawlessly on Sky Broadband!
