Modem/router settings help

I've just switched my office from a USB modem to an Ethernet router, but
speeds not great. Signed up to 8Mbits BT ADSL business broadband and
using a Netgear DG834H modem/router (I've disabled the wireless). I
found one tweak that seems to have improved things quite a bit - changed
multiplex setting from LLC to VC - are there any other settings to
change or check?

thx

E.

What speed does it sync at? What actual throughput do you get? Is it
better/worse than the old USB modem?

The main thing you can do is check the wiring inside your premises.
Everything else is likely to be down to the laws of physics, about which
you can't do very much.

I've not tested the speed - it just seems slower. What's the best way to do a
test?

In this case it's plugged straight into a single exchange line in N1, London,
so it should be a reasonable line I think.
