Error- The version of SecurityCenter that is installed on your computer is designed..

I have contacted AOL Techs numerous times about my problem with this message which pops up about every minute over all work, sites, AOL, etc. No one has been able to get rid of the message--I'm totally frustrated. Message: McAfee Security Center (The version of Security Center that is installed on your computer is designed for a different operating system. If you recently updated your computer from one operating system to another (for example, Windows 2000 to Windows XP), please uninstall all McAfee Prodiucts, restart your computer, and thenm reinsall all tyhe produicts to get the correct version for your operating system.))
Also, I've downloaded AOL Computer Check-Up, but it never opens. Are the problems related?

Re: Error Message

From the error message itself it is clear that the issue is related to McAfee Security Center. Please refer the following article from McAfee and your issue should be resolved.

ERROR: The version of SecurityCenter that is installed on your computer is designed for a different operating system

If this is not working we can try to reinstall it.

Please uninstall it first:

1. Go to Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs

2. In the Add or Remove Programs find out McAfee Security Center, select it and click the Change/Remove button.

3. Follow the instructions and Remove it. Reboot the computer once it's completed.

4. If you still need to use McAfee try to install it after the reboot.

Hope this helps.

Hmm.. The Mcafee uninstaller is a real mess.

Generally you need to remove all the components ( like Virus Scan, Personal Firewall, Privacy Service and Spamkiller) before attempting to remove Security Center. Also open services manager by typing services.msc in Run and stop & disable each McAfee related services. Reboot and try to remove using the uninstaller.
