Re: Can't access Antivirus Sites/Google/Avast etc.

Re: Can't access Antivirus Sites/Google/Avast etc.
The log looks clean to me except the following:
Quote:
So, can you now access the blocked websites? Is the system is back to normal now? Check the hosts file again and see if there is any unwanted entries. I suggest the removal of one of the Antivirus software install. You'll only need one, Avast should do the job. Keep it upto date. Also install Windows XP SP3. Update Spybot S&D once in a week and do scans. Cheers! Strider |

Re: Can't access Antivirus Sites/Google/Avast etc.
If you still have problems open your hosts file and delte the entire contents and paste this :
Code:
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows. # # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name. # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one # space. # # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol. # # For example: # # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

Re: Can't access Antivirus Sites/Google/Avast etc.
Thank you two for all of your help and support =D.
You helped me as if I have been a member for quite awhile and walked me through step by step. Strider you definitely have my recommendation. Everything seems up to par, I'll update to sp3. --- 127.0.0.1 localhost --- That was the only thing in the host file I had. |

Yes your hosts file is now OK.
And if you still have this entry in HijackThis, fix it : Quote:
