I don't have net connection where I stay now. So I can reply only on weekends.

Have you un-installed the hotfix ?

Download and run Windows worms Door cleaner . Close all the 5 ports shown. and then reboot and check your net connection.

Also update your antivirus and run a full system scan.

Question Re: Cannot access Antivirus Sites/Google/Avast etc.

Hello guys, im here posting because i have similar problems to some of the people who posted on this thread. i believe i have virus/worm that is preventing me from accessing microsoft's websites (even direct ips)
and almost any antivirus websites,

microsoft, symantec/norton, mcafee, sophos, avast, pctools, kaspersky, avg, eset, bit defender to say the least cyber defender to say the least.

i cant update my new norton internet secuirty either nor update anything microsoft related as it does not allow them to connect.

i have downloaded

Hijackthis and this is what it found:

Code:

The scan was run in normal windows mode (not safe mode) i am not sure if this is the correct procedure.

I also downloaded spybot S & D
and it found this odd registry changes though im not sure which ones to delete as it may harm my pc and they dont seem to be the root of all the problems...

so heres the screen pic

I still can access the reg editor and task manager if it helps.
i also did a conficker eye chart and it says i may have the A/B

but i cant access any microsoft/symantec related files to solve it if i have acquired the worm.

what should i do, i don't know ho long i've had it since i only realised yesterday when i attempted to download a microsoft software and i could not access the website or mirrors of the download provided by microsoft, then i attempted o install new norton and i cant activate it due to ineternet issues (the virus.)
It's late here in the u so ill stay up as long as i can to reply and attempt to solve the issue if i don't reply in a couple of hours i'm probably asleep and will attempt tomorrow.

Re: Cannot access Antivirus Sites/Google/Avast etc.

Hello! I'm Trish and I'm new here. I need help about my PC.

I think my PC has been infected by virus, although I already scanned it using Malwarebytes and Spybot but it didn't solve the problem. (They did find some trojans and some adwares and removed them, but I'm still having problems.) I can't access antivirus websites (like McAfee, Norton, etc.) and moreover, there seems to be trouble with my Windows Explorer. Sometimes when I try opening files that I have downloaded through Windows Explorer, before opening them my explorer shuts down. Sometimes they open successfully, but afterwards I can see that the explorer shuts down. There are times that my pc freezes/hangs and I can't shut down the pc properly and have to do it manually using the power button. I'm afraid this might cause more problems so I really need your help.

By the way, I just reformatted my pc a few weeks ago, and although I didn't have internet connection from the time it was reformatted (my internet connection was busted), I had no choice but to use USB to transfer some files from a local internet cafe to my pc. So I suppose that could have infected my pc. I hope you can give me some advice before I consider repairing my installation or even reformatting it again (hope not). Thank you very much!

Re: Cannot access Antivirus Sites/Google/Avast etc.

Hi all,

I'm just another person experiencing problems...

They are/were -
1) People have told me that their antivirus programs wont allow them to access my website.
2) My comp has been very slow
3) AVG cant update/access server
4) I can access NO downloads for antivirus programs through google or otherwise.
5) Internet was always disconnecting etc.

So, after much messing about, I have managed to get AVG to update, so am running that along with Avast and also Spybot.

The only problem I have now is that I cannot download any of the programs from downloads.com. Every single one comes up with a "this page cannot be displayed" error. This is the only thing that suggests to me that I have a problem, but I certainly believe it as not one DL link works...

I DL'd hijackthis and have the log file if this would help? I did it from normal computer mode...don't know how to use safe mode! I'm really useless with computers in general, so would really appreciate any advice....

I see this forum has helped many people, so I am crossing everything for a similar result!

Many thanks!

Aaron

Re: Cannot access Antivirus Sites/Google/Avast etc.

^ We have the exact same problem (as I mentioned before your post). Though I haven't tried downloading from downloads.com, but my McAfee can't install updates. And I can't access other antivirus websites. I have tried scanning it with spybot and malwarebytes but it didn't help. My pc is quite slower too and internet is always disconnecting. Same same!

Someone help us please? Thanks!

Re: Cannot access Antivirus Sites/Google/Avast etc.

^ Update: I tried repairing my windows installation (using the windows installation cd, just repairing, without reformatting/installing a fresh copy of windows) and so far, i can access antivirus websites already! I don't know if it'll solve the other problems so let's see. I'll update soon. If it works, maybe you can do the same. I'll give an update again if it works fully.

Re: Cannot access Antivirus Sites/Google/Avast etc.

Thanks Trish - unfortunately, I dont have a windows installation CD for this computer though. It is a laptop and came with everything installed. It was brand new from a box, but no windows cd was included...

I've got three antivirus programmes running, and none are finding anything. Just that I can't access anti-virus downloads, which tells me something is still not right...

I hope someone is able to help...I've read nearly all 70 pages of this forum, but dont understand which lines or files I need to delete, so am hesitant to do it!

Cheers,
Luke
