I know I am a bit late but I came across this thread when I faced the same problem.

I solved it by

1. looking for suspicious processes in task manager, killing them and deleting the associated files.
2. Deleting the associated entries in the list of start up programs (msconfig.exe, etc)
3. Now coming the symptom of not being able to access the anti-virus websites, I found that my TCP settings were changed to use a specific DNS server (most probably related to the trojan that was causing all this). I just set it to obtain DNS automatically and now i can access my sites.
