Cannot access Antivirus Sites/Google/Avast etc.

Hey guy's/gal's,

The names Keith. I'm here just trying to further my knowledge on tomorrows future.

I believe I currently have a virus. I'll go to google, type in avast, click on the link and it opens a different tab with another anti virus software.
I downloaded winrar and everything went haywire.
Can anyone help point me in the right direction so I can try and save this computer?

I.E. Pops up and closes.
Typing in http://www.Avast.com gives me a page error.
Every other websites work fine.
Other than those of search engine, and anti-virus nature.

Re: Can't access Antivirus Sites/Google/Avast etc.

Hi Keith,

It seems that you have a spyware installed in your computer. From the post I understand that you can't access websites of antivirus companies and search engines. or is it just of avast.com and Google?

Could you please check if you can access ESET NOD32 download page?

Best Free Antivirus: ESET! Try free antivirus programs for 30 days.
If possible download the Antivirus and install it. Do a scan in safe mode after disabling system restore.

Also try getting Spybot S&D, update it and do a complete scan.

The home of Spybot-S&D!

If both the above sites can't access from your machine post back and we'll have a manual clean up. For that download Hijackthis and do a scan. Attach the log file generated in your reply.

Can you access the avast site in Firefox/Google Chrome/Opera ? Also which version of IE do you use ? Upgrade to IE7 and make sure Windows is updated from Windows Update.

Also run the scans Strider mentioned and do post a HijackThis log file.

Do you use any firewall ? and which version of Internet explorer do you use ?
Clear your dns cache and try connecting to the sites again.

Does this url work : http://74.55.73.250/

if none of the mentioned Spybot S&D mirror links work, open command prompt and type :
tasklist > c:\process.txt

then paste the contents of the c:\process.txt file

Re: Can't access Antivirus Sites/Google/Avast etc.

Window's fire wall has been turned off because I thought that might be the problem.
I don't use internet explorer, so it might be 6?
I can get spybot downloaded, but when I go to install it, it is unable to get a connection with the website.
Bakuryu that url does work but it wont let me connect to the hosting site of the .exe to download it.
And this is what I get when I try tasklist > c:\process.txt
I've typed it in exactly as you did. nothing, and tryed a couple different ways and got an access denied. Which I don't understand seeing as how I am on an admi account.

You can't download the setup exe from any of the mirror pages I posted?

You may download Hijackthis from our server. Attach the log file once the scan is complete.

What are the contents of your hosts file ?
The hosts file is located here : C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc folder.
You can open the file in notepad.
