Google redirects and can't access anti-virus websites

I've read many recent threads about this, and I'm having the same problem. I wasn't sure if it would be confusing to reply to someone else's thread so I started a new one.

Problems:
Anti-virus websites and forums are blocked (malwarebytes, geekstogo, etc.)
Google results pop up in a new window with yahoo search or go.google sites
Able to download some anti virus programs from mirror sites but it will not install them

I managed to download and install combo-fix, run and restart. This enabled me to get to spybot S&D and install, which I also ran and fixed several problems. I could then get zone alarm firewall which I installed. I'm still having the anti virus blocking problem and google redirects though. Here is my HJT log:

Re: Google redirects and can't access anti-virus websites

Can you visit this site :
Code:
http://www.kaspersky.com/
and this one
Code:
http://195.27.181.34
If you can visit the site with ip address, then disconnect from net, clear your dns cache and reconnect and see if you can visit antivirus sites.

also have you disabled system restore and ran the scans ? and did you try some other browser, like Firefox/Google Chrome and do you get redirects in those browsers too ? and google redirect you to which site ?

Re: Google redirects and can't access anti-virus websites

Yes, I could visit both Kaspersky sites. I cleared my DNS and was able to get to the antivirus sites!

I don't know how to disable system restore, can you help with that? I have not tried any other browser, I'm using IE. Should I try another browser even now that it's working again?

This should help:

How to turn off and turn on System Restore in Windows XP

Off course! Mozilla Firefox is faster, more secure and lots of free addons available.

Also make sure Internet Explorer is up to date.
