This seems to be a huge hole and is uncovered by a researcher from SANS Internet Storm Center.
Anyway Microsoft responded immediately with some updates: Microsoft Security Advisory (961051): Vulnerability in Internet Explorer Could Allow Remote Code Execution |

Microsoft released a patch last Wednesday : Security Update for Internet Explorer (v5.01 to v8 beta 2) - KB960714
If you have Automatic updates enabled, then this get downloaded and installed automatically. Note - It requires a system reboot. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../MS08-078.mspx

Hahahahahaha!!!
It's things like this that make me glad that I switched to Firefox a couple of years ago. The way things seem lately just propels me towards the assumption that M.S. couldn't give a tinkers cuss about the state of their own browser - let alone the well-being of their installer base. It's pretty sad.  |
