Have Ask.com malware, can not remove toolbar

My PC is infected with ask.com malware on both Firefox and IE7 (ask.com takes over as homepage, and directs me to malware add removal adds). When I attempt to remove the ask.com toolbar, it will not remove from the browser bar. When I go to system control panel and try to uninstall ask.com it won't uninstall. I tried deleting the file folder from C/rograms/AskBarDis but it will not delete. Any suggestions?

There should be a entry in Add / Remove programs to uninstall Ask.com toolbar. First try with the un-installer.

otherwise download and run a scan with Spybot S&D. it should detect and remove the malware.

if that still doesn't remove it, run HijackThis and post the log file.

Re: Have Ask.com malware, can not remove toolbar

look for asksearch under program files and remove it or download.....
TrendMicro HijackThis 2.0.2 Freeware download page - tested and reviewed software downloads from SnapFiles
run this and go down the list it pulls up and look for asksearch
have it remove the file...
worked great here i was sure glad to get rid of that ask thing, it was a pain...Good Luck
