greeting messages

i am using windows xp
on my pc last day i had unwanted messages 'greetings' displayed. .
some of which had 'happy birthday' sign and other were in ascii character i coudnt recognize..... it was frustrating cause the message boxes were displayed on top of every wiondow or apllication that i opened... is it a virus problem?

Re: greeting messages

Might be or a spyware infection ?

Which antivirus do you use ? have you updated virus definitions and run full system scans ?

use CCleaner to delete temporary files and cookies.

Download, update and run a full scan of Spybot S&D
