Re: Best Anti-virus and Anit-spyware?

When using it as a stand alone and in addition to an antivirus program Spyware S&D is the best out there.

Many antivirus programs have such features (as provided by Spyware S&D) included, therefore the antivirus program is enough.

Somebody said here that Kaspersky won't work in conjunction with Spyware S&D, and I think it might be because of that reason.

Re: Best Anti-virus and Anit-spyware?

I use F-Prot on the domain for client machines and domain controlers but as stated common sense and not running as admin are two of the most powerfull weapons.

What the heck wolfie276?

I see that wolfie said he has no antivirus software.
IDIOT, an antivirus software can potentially save you alot of time and money.
I'm not saying it will happen, but it might and it is really easy to get a trojan and/or keylogger and I have found a couple of viruses myself.
I have had in the one year I have had this PC, 2 keyloggers, 13 trojans, 1 adware, 16 viruses, 1 joke software and 1 spyware. Kinda makes you think.
Also someone said Norton 2010 is good. I have read abput it and it has this thing that detect software that behaves like viruses and deletes them AS WELL AS the standard download patch thing because hackers know a virus can be detected and patched within 24 hours so they design more malicious ones that hit hard before they are fixed. Bastards.
But Norton 2010 is meant to be pretty good. Get virus protection wolfie276.

The Windows Vs. Linux discussion is moved here.

Now back to the topic, I'm trying out Norton 2010 now. It looks alright! It's fast and removes most of the viri I tried in my vmware test machine.

I would rate it in the other way around. In my experience Avast performs better than AVG.

Re: Best Anti-virus and Anti-spyware?

Using an older version of a O.S. might actually be good, because no-one is trying to take down win 98 are they?
Of course there are plenty of viruses out there already for win 98, but most of these will have been recognised

I have used many av,s over my years of IT.

I found etrust and fprot the best. Free ones I mainly use avg.

I find all of them have there share of miss's and false positives.
