Audio Drivers (no sound)

The hardware comes up with a yellow question mark and is called "Multimedia Audio Controller" I've downloaded a program to help me identify it and it comes up as

"82801FB (ICH6) AC'97 Audio Controller
vendor: Intel Corp.
PnpIDCI\VEN_8086&DEV_266E&SUBSYS_00000000&REV_03
Class:Multimedia Audio
OEM Device: Unknown
OEM Vendor: Dell
System IRQ:10 INT#A"

now I've been on the dell website and even put in my service tag to download the drivers and it still doesn't have it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Look in Windows Update, it should detect the drivers.

or you can download the drivers from here : http://122.146.118.42/downloads/down...&GetDown=false

Hi JDB,

What is your notebook model number?

If you can't find it, download and install Belarc advisor and post the report here ( preferably the main circuit board details)

http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html.

You may try this driver. Not sure if it'll work or not.

Re: Audio Drivers (no sound)

Mose probably all your drivers are already installed. If you got any motherboard CD, that should have the label of your motherboard manufacturer and the required chipset drivers in that CD.

For other driver updates, open Device Manager (Start -> run -> type devmgmt.msc and expand Display Driver, Sound, Networks and you can right click on each of these components and click Update driver and let Windows search in Windows Update to find an updated driver for you.

Also in Device manager see if there's any devices with yellow question marks that are not working properly.
