Looking for generic Windows XP 32-bit USB to Serial cable driver

I am using a USB to Serial adapter cable to console in to a Cisco switch using Windows XP 32 bit. Unsure who the cable manufacturer is, but I am needing a general driver that will work for it. Currently it is not recognized.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can try these : USB to Serial support (Windows)
Not sure if they will do the job for all cables, but generally the driver provided should work.

Re: Looking for generic Windows XP 32-bit USB to Serial cable driver

Thanks for the quick response bakuryu. Unfortunately that did not work. I ended up using a different cable entirely. The new cable was a Belkin, and it had the model number right there on the back. I was able to locate the driver and get it to work.

Re: Looking for generic Windows XP 32-bit USB to Serial cable driver

Have you tried the Device Manager to Identify the VID/PID?

1. Exectute: C:\WINDOWS\system32\devmgmt.msc
2. Find you device (probably listed in the unknown or other devices category)
3. Right click on the device icon and select properties (at bottom).
4. Go to Details tab and pick the "Hardware Ids" property.
5. It should show something like "USB\VID_xxxx&PID_xxxx"

Once you have that, you can try a google on the "VID_xxxx" for the manufacturer and also try "VID_xxx&PID_xxx" for a driver.
Unfortunately, many of the commodity (and legacy) products are private labeled and the original manufacturer may not have a driver support web page.
