can not view files in usb
hey all!
i need urgent help over here. i put some files which took memory space of around 4 gb in my flash drive at my friend's PC and now i come home to view these files. but when i plugged in my usb drive in my laptop, it is not showing any file at all but when i check its used space, it shows that 4 gb is in use. I thought the files might be hidden so i followed the process to "show hidden files" but in vain. I need those files and do not want to format my usb drive. Can anyone please please help me with this ![]() |

Re: can not view files in usb
Try to download USB Show. It is a free little portable tool that shows all hidden files inside the USB Drive. Insert your USB Drive, launch USB Show executable file and hit Recovery The Hide File button to recover all hidden files. Hope it will help you.

Re: can not view files in usb
1) when you removed the flash drive, did you click on SAFELY REMOVE? If not, you broke the filestructure. This happens when the transaction is not complete, and the USB drive is removed.
- 2) it could be a virus. there's a virus that keeps files hidden. The quickest way to check if you have that virus is to goto folder options, then select Show hidden files. then click apply, ok. Go to folder options a 2nd time. If the checkbutton is back at Don't show hidden files, then you have the virus. |

You could also go back to the original computer, if convenient, and see if they are viewable from that PC. It sounds to me like you got the files from a friends computer and wanted to view them on yours. Also check the file system FAT32 or NTFS. I don't think NTFS file system is able to be read a FAT32. But FAT32 can be read by NTFS. Sorry you had to format to get your space back ![]() Rick |

For overall compatability, at least in my own experience, a USB device formatted in FAT32 can be read by more machines. |

Re: can not view files in usb
Bleh, last I checked, the only decent ext3 hacks for Windows only work on XP. XP gets on my nerves; I'd rather just run Linux.
