Windows 8 Drivers not Compatible with older?

I am planning to get a new laptop, however they are all Windows 8, which I don't really like. I have a retail copy of Windows 7 to install to my new laptop, but I am not sure if the drivers will be suitable. I've heard from some people that you cannot do this with a new laptop, is this true?

Drivers are made base on OS Version (CMIIW).
but Some drivers are cross platform. Just check you driver Vendors for details.

Which laptop model you plan to buy, most of the OS drivers are available in vendors support sites.

Re: Windows 8 Drivers not Compatible with older?

I recently had an issue with a customer's new HP desktop which I re-formatted & loaded Windows 7 only to find that HP had no Win7 drivers available on their support site! I managed to find most of the drivers by finding the make/model of the motherboard (it was an MSI) and getting the drivers from there but a job that would usually have taken me an hour or so took over 3 hours!
I would search for the drivers before performing the clean install.
If you're reverting to Windows 7 because you have software that won't run on Windows 8 you should be able to find the drivers from somewhere.
If you just don't like it was (I personally don't), you might want to wait until the 8.1 upgrade is released in a few months. It is rumored that the start menu is returning and many other fixes.

Best solution for this problem is to visit the manufacturer website and download the latest drivers that are compatible with windows 8.
