Hi!
Really hope someone can help, I believe this is quite a common problem. I have an HP Pavilion dv5000 laptop, was running XP, have just upgraded to Vista Home Premium x64, and my soundcard has effectively disappeared. There are no visible drivers, the OS recommends I install a soundcard as there is none available. My main reason for having a laptop is to watch and create film and DVDs while I'm working as a care assistant, so this is a HUGE problem for me! I can't find a driver upgrade anywhere, and my laptop is not online, I'm using a friend's connection. I found one that looked like it was going to work, but I think it might only be for the 8000 series.... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!!!! |

Re: HP Pavilion dv5000 - Conexant High-Definition Audio Driver for Windows Vista 64-bit?
Uhmmm. Strider..those are updates, not full drivers, full drivers can only be found in new HP computers that are installed with HP, you then go to Folder Options and choose to view hidden files....Then go into C or wateva it is in your case and then a folder appears called HP, in this folder, it contains all the necessary drivers to help reinstall if system recovery has failed or that some drivers or softwares went spastic after error update...so Strider, those options aren't going to help this lad.....Thats why never reformat HP windows when their is the HP and system recovery files...always create a HP system recovery disc and keep it safe!!!!!Or else yoou'd have to pay $30 to HP, to get a specified one for your model orderd!!!!

Hi, I downloaded the sound driver from the URL u wrote here Strider. I have hp pavilion dv 5000 CTO (I guess cause this driver was the only one that I could install. every other time it would say that some kind of MEDIA not found) so i installed it, it said installation successful, in device manager it says that it'w working properly, but there is still no sound working. I mean I can talk in skype if I connect a microphone to the laptop, but the built in microphone still won't work, no matter what I do. It used to work before untill I installed skype 4 beta version. Then it suddenly just stopped. I reinstalled the skype 3.8 but still nothing. Since then it;s dead. Can anyone tell me what possibly can I do?
forgot to say that mine is vista business 32bit Last edited by bakuryu; 08-04-2009 at 01:59 PM.. |

Re: HP Pavilion dv5000 - Conexant High-Definition Audio Driver for Windows Vista 64-bit?
So if you play any music/movie you can hear the sound properly ? The problem is only with the built in Microphone ?
Right click on the volume icon in task bar and select "Recording devices", and make sure your microphone is listed as the default device. Otherwise select the microphone and click "Set default" button. If it's already selected as the default device, select it and click the "Configure" button. Then click 'Set up a microphone' and follow the on screen instructions.
