Sooo... what's your company? What chases did you use for the harddrives? What type of moniter was that? That looked old
The rest looked awesome 1 Question:If I get my domain name from someplace, then how would I make my computer the host like what you're doing? Changing the DNS wouldn't do it, right?

Re: The new servers are born :)
lol.
The monitor is an old 14" monitor that fitts in the rack nicely. Not a lot of point having anything else as I only use it to access the domain server when I cant use terminal services. The hard drive chasis are promise SATA removeable drive caddy's with temperature and fan monitoring. The top machine is the file server, second from the top is the domain server and the bottom one is the UTM. Bellow that the gigabit switch and Vlan then the 100mbs switch. Then the two routers and IDS boxes and then finaly my two UPS's. As for the DNS. Once you own the domain name you need your point your DNS entries with your hoster to your public IP. Setting 2003 server to be a public DNS is very complicated and opens up a can of worms with security ect. Most hosters let you point to there DNS for your A records and SMTP entries and they will in turn point to your public IP that hosts your services. The left hand side of the rack has two more servers to go in for my flight sim network when I get time to set it all up. Am still waiting for my leased line and IP block at the moment. Thought I work for BT full time my company is called T.R.S. Security and has been running for 10 years now, we mostly deal with computer security and network penetration testing including wireless scanning or LAN's and cordless phones and keyboards ect + we desighn custom CCTV system and electronic security systems.

Re: The new servers are born :)
ooo Because I have SiteGround.com as my domain host, and you're not allowed to change the DNS to an IP address... thanks for the info anyway!

If they are hosing your site then they probobly wont. You need to host the site yourself.. I use validweb.biz and point all ip's to my public ip.

Re: The new servers are born :)
Wow.. That's a cool setup you got there. How about the hardware specs of the servers?
In my office i'm managing a 3 server (1 DC + 2 File) + 50 workstation network. They are old, but last week I got a new RM server with a Dual - Quadcore Xeon + 4 G RAM + 1.5 TB hdd . Trying to build it in to our custom 2003 server + Vista client network now. I like this sign, never seen before. ![]() ![]() |
