Please can somebody help!!!!
I recently built this PC a few months back with Vista, a 20” LCD screen, new speakers, webcam and new case the works. It was lovely turned it on it was super quick, vista is ok a little buggy but otherwise nice to use. However I then started playing C&C 3 and occasionally it got a loss of sound and everything slowed down. It only happens for a few secs then it goes away. I also noticed it maxes out just one of the cores while it happens. It seems somewhat related to what’s happens in the game. However I don’t think I have graphic settings up too high because I downloaded Flashback that old and very brilliant game from the nineties and it does the same thing. I really don’t think that should tax a new GPU or processor considering the whole game barely gets into the MB’s. I have fiddled with the over clocking in the bios and some other bios features in case it was a hardware issue and that didn’t work. I have updated every driver I can think of, done a defrag, cleaned both hard discs, tried about every different graphical setting in game and in Nvidia settings and done several scans with AVG, antispyware and registry easy. I have heard there are some issues with dual core processors on some games but I have been playing Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance which from what I know of is supposed to be ok with dual core but still has the problem. On a slightly detached note if I right click on anything on the desktop or the start menu windows explorer crashes. Now I know what you going to say – Virus. However with both these problems I decided to wipe the hard disks and start with at first minimal software and basic bits drivers etc installed and again both problems were back. They maybe related they may not but here is the error code for the explorer issue and details of my PC. Re: Gaming Issue
Update you DirectX, update all your drivers and make sure your Windows Vista is up to date and also make sure your doing nothing is the background. One last important thing you must do is to make sure you have applied any latest udpates for Supreme Commander.

Re: Gaming Issue
Thanks for the advice but i have updated all you have mentioned several times over the course of trying to fix this problem. I have been investigating the thing running in the background possibility and have been closing various processes testing to see if they make any difference. So far no luck but it is ongoing. Do you have any view on this dual core situation could this be the problem as it seems to uccur on most of my games.
