Re: Playstation 4 Specs

The graphics being used is equivalent to a 5870 series AMD gpu or so from I what I've read so far, could be different. I'm just hoping none of the consoles start adapting "overkill" features such as too much bloom and glare on objects, makes thing's look really trippy and unrealistic. On the other hand, I'm waiting for the next Xbox because I know the price of the PS4 will make me cringe.

Re: Playstation 4 Specs

IMO, the specs are similar to a mid level PC. But having low level access to the hardware and the lack of the OS' software layers should provide excellent framerates.

I thought so too. Both the nextgen consoles are using AMD; they must be doing something right.

It'd be interesting if they are going for a Hybrid CrossFire setup with the APU.

+1 That would be interesting indeed, but who knows it could be unlikely since the coding that talks with the hardware abstract layers used in the PS4 is completely different to your regular ATI drivers with Hybrid crossfire support.

They still have a long way to go. I don't think AMD will be competing for the high-end market (like they did with Athlon 64); but low-mid range market is another story. IMO, their ATi acquisition was one of the best business decisions of the last decade.

Re: Playstation 4 Specs

Well tbf they weren't exactly doing well before the Athlon days, so maybe something else is up their sleeves
