Re: Why is Technology So Complex?

My opinion and a fact for 1 reason that's it's so complicated [take Windows for example] is so the manufacturer can screw with you and make you pay for help xD

Re: Why is Technology So Complex?

So wouldn't it be great if there was a manufacturer that took it as their mission to simplify technology? Dell said they were doing that last year. Check this out http://direct2dell.com/one2one/archi.../23/35379.aspx

Why would Dell want to simplify it? They are the best selling manufacturer [I think]. Why would they care so much? All they care about is money

Re: Why is Technology So Complex?

Two subjects here:

- First, a comment to the previous note. Why would Dell want to simplify IT? Because it is what their customers want. Other companies include proprietary hooks in their hardware and software that require expensive services and add to cost and compexity. Sure Dell wants to sell more stuff, but they do it by providing more value, rather than locking you in.
- Second, I neglected in my earlier post to include the URL for the point about IT simplicity. Here it is: www.direct2dell.com/one2one/archive/2007/11/23/35379.aspx

Re: Why is Technology So Complex?

@jeffatdell: Well, you got it all wrong I said that dell wanted to simplify their hardware and software, not the IT support. Anyone would want to have great IT support... but no one really cares about what's inside of the computer as long as it turns on, and works. That's how most people think, but some people like me actually want to experiment with our computers So yeah, you understood it wrong. Anywayz, do you actually work at Dell?
