2nd March 2009, the day I crashed my car

Well....by far the sadistic day of my 2009, but you know what "All well that ends well"

Certainly I got a OK ending if not a happy ending, but this is how the day, 2nd March 2009 went for me.

>> It was the traditional day in our college, I went to the college dressed properly in Marathi wear-out.

I had also tied that marathi pagadi called as Pheta and was certainly the odd man out in the college gazing the attraction of everyone.

Things went really good.. At 2.00 Pm I and my friends decided to go to Siddivinayak - A very famous 'Ganapati' temple in Mumbai.

We took the darshan (visited) and then planned to go to my friends house over there.

We entered his narrow compound... It looked this way

Make a note of that Red GRILL..

Here make a note of the red grill again

I drew my car till the end of the compound and then thought I better reverse the car and make it ready.. So that I wont have to reverse it in night went the things become dark.

And while reversing this is what I've done

How this happend inspite the car being featured with Rear Parktronics ?

Well yeah!!! I certainly have no one other to blame than for myself...But I very much relied on the Parktronics system provided by the car.

Oh by the way - I Own a SKODA FABIA 1.4 Tdi -Elegance

Parktronics is nothing but a system which alerts you when there is object behind the car.

Since the grills were on high distance and the ground were clear, parktronics didnt detect any obstacle

And as I surpassed the black colored grill, and the car easily went without touching it I never looked in the back mirror.

I never knew the RED gril was more outward compared to black and it just struck the car.

Once again see how hard it struck

Damn.. what a moment

I called Dad immediately afterwards just to hear some rough words....

Then called skoda workshop to know the estimate

The Back Windshield was quoted for 6.5Ks with sealing liquid of around 2ks...To remove dent I was qouted about 5Ks minimum ( as they dint knew how bad or good the dent was ) and Labour Extra

I was like SHIT a minimum damage of Rs. 15k

Luckily I knew a garage around that area which of dads friend.

I again called my dad to tell that I'm going to the uncles garage and we will see the estimation over there.

I went to the garage and then uncle asked me, how old the car is

I said roughly 5 months old.

He said do you have the insurance paper now.. I said yes..

He said dont worry everything will be covered in insurance...

Damn!!! what a day

I phoned my dad and then returned home.

Showed him these pictures explained him how it happend.

I didnt get any yelling from either of my parent, except for my dad said - " You are grounded from driving any car till you Sem 8 exam "

DAMN ---- !!!

It was just two weeks ago when I was praised by my dad for excellent precision and control on overtakinig (17th FEB ). I was given praise for a smooth and comfortable ride on highway and bumpy roads of city

and yesterday was the day wherein Im refrained from further driving

bye bye Driving

That's the catch isn't it?

Man that's so sad. But the failure of the obstacle Alert system is understandable. It must be using a single laser beam. You might want to wrote to the Skoda guys about this bug!

No.. the mechanism is proper..

As the four sensors are placed on the rear bumpers, they only check the obstacle in front of them

While those grills were way above the rear lights...

Wish whole rear door had those senseors

Damn!!! ... but a lesson to be learned, no matter how good your car is in technological aspect.....

The primitive method of looking into mirrors stands flawless
