Re: pc freeze (hardlock) while gaming

did the game prompt you to allow some outgoing or incoming connections ?

also check in event viewer after the reboot, and see if any errors or warning were reported just before the system freezed.

yes it did prompt me to allow connection, i clicked allow, the only errors in event viewer are from system control manager saying that AVG terminated unexpectedly, but ive had this problem before avg was even installed

occasional lockups or freeze, might be a driver issue, do you repeatedly get lockups ? Also notice the temps while playing the games,

Re: pc freeze (hardlock) while gaming

if playing offline does not crash repeatedly, then i don't think it's an issue with hardware.

it might be some conflicts with the game and the network connections itself. Did you look for patches released ?

Re: pc freeze (hardlock) while gaming

No its not the hardware, it has nothing to do with your motherboard, so don't go ditching it out and buying a new one!!

This problem is the exact same to when I play online games on my dads laptop. Everygame that I have tried either full online based or just deathmatches, lanparty or just internet....always hang up. One of the problems is the game itself, make sure all the online games are absolutely updated before playing across the net. And btw...what is your current firewall your running?? If your using the XP built in Firewall..did you set the games as an exceptions on the next tab for the games to allow to connect itself to the net. Another thing is that make sure the game ports are correct and nothing glitchy goes on with them. If it does go glitchy, you may be disconnected everysingle 5mins, unable to connect at all or you might get hangups and lockups and possibly a BSOD!

When I used to play Guildwars and WoW, there is a Liveupdate thing that you have to go into the directory of whereever you installed the 2 games, and run the Liveupdate if you see it, If its a exe file and it has Update written on it, you may be lucky and get a new update for the game!

Good Firewall Freeware/Trialware

Comodo Firewall
Agnitium Firewall Pro 3, (which I can give you a free copy if you want, because it was a free full product I registered, that came with my PC WORLD magazine!)
Zonealarm
Other Firewalls maybe included such as ones built in, into Antivirus programs and etc!

The last 2 have 30 day trial for you to use then you can buy it! As Baku already mentioned

Re: pc freeze (hardlock) while gaming

has been locking up on warhammer [B]repeatidly, not crysis or frontlines tho.

as for online play, all games are up to date with patches, i have allowed them access through the firewall (tried windows and zone alarm), and have also forwarded the ports, i was thinking it was a networking problem till i also started locking up with warhammer (single play, not online) as well unless for some reason it is connecting to the net... cause i did get a warning from zone alarm on the first run of it.....

Warhammer 40,000? Single Play

Uhmm...is your connection, wireless router or modems configured properly....you should do a whole modem, wireless router reset and see if that will help...is the ethernet cable plugged in properly from your modem to the back of your motherboard lan connector properly?

Make sure all the computer connectors, components are all configured and plugged in properly!
