Inspiron 5160 Troubleshooting

I have a Dell Inspiron 5160 laptop. Was working fine, but now does not power up at all. When plugged in, and when I press the power button and all three lights blink green for a fraction of a second. . Nothing else happens. What does this mean? Is it the power cord that gives problem or the internal battery? If I remove the battery I get nothing at all. I do not have a spare power cord or battery to test it. Any advice? I've done some searches and still don't find what really causes this problem, but I can't seem to find a thread that will take me in the direction of correctly diagnosing the problem with my machine (and I need to fix this asap!) Thanks You all...

Re: Inspiron 5160 Troubleshooting

Might be some internal hardware failures. Best is to take it to service center and get it repaired.

Here are the things you can do ...

1> test the battery by pressing the button to test the light .. if u get 135 it means ur batt needs to be replaced
2> power it on without the batt
3> check for led light on the ac adapter
4> check for broken pins
5> your scenario could be cause of a failing mobo .. you said you turned it on then all diag lights went on but went off after a few seconds (max of 10secs)
6> call DELL if you still have the warranty

additional .. if you can still go to BIOS .. try to see Event Viewer and see any error messages

lol .. its Event Log not Event Viewer .. I was thinking of Windows

Re: Inspiron 5160 Troubleshooting

Victorious Maiden, i like runt the test but im not really sure about how to do it. can u give more info on the part. i think that b helpful. I've tried removing the battery and run it through AC power using the power cord and still no luck. My ac adapter looks fine. the light on the box is on.

any ideas beside the testing?
thanks
