256 MB RAM appearing as 192 MB

would anyone tell the reason why system showing a shortened memory?

i have windows xp sp2, intel desktop board D101GGC, pentiuam-4 3.06 GHZ

Do you have a graphics card ? it seems your motherboard is using 64MB for video memory if you don't have a separate graphics card and using the inbuilt graphics chipset.

as i have low system memory(only 256 MB), would it create any negetive effect to internal hardware other than low processing speed?

Nope no negative affect...just 64MB of your RAM taken in being shared with your graphics card.....nothing bad except gaming performance and slower computer overall performance speed!

Enter BIOS setup and change the shared graphics memory to 32 Mb. It should be enough for normal use.
