DVD ROM does'nt read

Hi am using a DELL STUDIO 14 LAPTOP. Its a new one and my DVD ROM is not reading DVDs.. My laptop uses this one for DVDROM TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-T633A... Any Solution for this...Plz help me

Does it happen with all DVD's ? In Device manager, do you see any yellow question mark beside the dvd drive ?

Uninstall the DVD drive from Device Manager, run regedit.exe, and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

in the right pane delete the values UpperFilters and LowerFilters if found. Reboot, Windows will automatically detect the DVD drive and install required drivers. Insert DVD and check. Also try with a DVD drive lens cleaner CD.

There might also be hardware fault with the DVD drive, and so if it's within warranty, replace it.

Am using Windows Vista... the problem is detects the empty disc fine...but after i write something in the empty disc it does not reads that... That DVD Disc works fine in a differnt system

Can it read other DVD's which are burned somewhere else, like the Windows DVD or some other custom DVD which was not burned in this DVD ?

You didnt burn DVD+ on a DVD- or the other way around right?

The DVDs which are burned in other system also not reading.... The DVDs which i burned in my system are working in other systems

Insert a DVD rom lens cleaner disk and clean out the lens and retry and check whether you can read all DVD's.
