Re: How do I partition my hard drive?

First of all what OS do you currently have installed?

If your running either XP, Vista or Win 7 RC. Then you can right click on my computer or computer and then Manage and Storage, Disk Management and then you can shrink whichever current partitions you have and or format.

Another way is to boot up your OS disc and format from there or you can invest in some professional 3rd party HDD management software that will take care of partitioning and formatting and more with programs such as Acronis or Paragon and even GParted freeware up to you really.

Re: How do I partition my hard drive?

How do I partition from a reboot?

Also, I have an Acer Laptop "Aspire One". Which GParted version would be best for my computer from the options on their website?

Thank you much!

Re: How do I partition my hard drive?

Is EASUS Partition Master Safe? How risky is it to use "information loss" wise?

Thank you kindly,

Douglas

Any of the mentioned partition programs are safe, just make sure you don't interrupt the formatting process and you know what you are doing.

Re: How do I partition my hard drive?

Ok, Thanks. I actually downloaded EASEUS Partition Master (free edition) and it was a piece of cake. I would still like to know the process for partitioning from boot without formatting and losing all of the info.

Thanks,
Douglas

What do you mean by partitioning from boot ? You can shrink/extend partitions without losing data (though always keep a backup) even from Windows.

Re: How do I partition my hard drive?

in XP, you need 3rd party partition managers, Vista and Windows 7 has that feature built in their Disk Management.
