Hello,

If I buy a conversion kit that will convert USB to Ethernet can I hook my external hard drive to my router and access it with my wireless computer anywhere in my house?

No sir, you would need one of those USB to Ethernet NAS adapters since your drive isn't a NAS. Simply a USB to Ethernet will not suffice.

NAS stands for Network Attached Storage. A NAS adapter will provide your drive with everything it would need to be recognized and connected to a network without being connected directly to a computer. You can find out more of what a NAS is here: Network-attached storage

This is what you would need:
Addonics NAS Adapter - I have this one myself
