All well and good but this review was done using a reference board, and is from November 2006, many new fixes in BIOS, 680i runs like a champ

Re: Help in my new pc - Need hardware configuration

To give you an idea about how good overclocking is on the evga 680i. Here are my system specs, and overclock results.

Evga 680i SLI
e4300 1.8 mhz
Antec 900 case
Zalman 9500 cooler
2gb OCZ 6400 800mhz CoolerMaster 850 w
Single evga 8800gts 320mb

My overclocks with 680i

E4300 @ 3.05 ghz
My temps are 39c idle to 58c on load.
My memory is clocked to 890Mhz timings @ 4,4,4,15,1T
Evga 8800 gts 320mb - clocked @ Core Clock =691mhz - Memory Clock = 980mhz

I believe these overclocks are mainly due to the abilities of the 680i. And yes I do have good supporting hardware, but this would not be possible without the 680i mb.

My 3DMark 06 score has now reached 11135 and beats quite a few 6600's with similar configs

Re: Help in my new pc - Need hardware configuration

One of the good things about getting a good overclocking board, is that you can get really good bang for your buck with other hardware. Check out the link to the 3DMark6 I put up , and you will see that I beat our most e6600. The main reason I put more money into the board, is that I will be able to upgrade for a while. Things that are consistent at the moment is that CPU prices are going to continue to drop for a while yet. Hell... you can buy a quad later when you have a little more money, meanwhile a good board should clock a cheaper processor like an e4300 very well, and you can then spend your money on other items that are less likely to drop in price.

With a good board, you can easily clock the e4300 to 2.7 or higher with stock cooler

Wanted to let you guys know... there was a typo in overclock of card, Core clock speed of card was 691 not 895, wow that would have been truly amazing

I would make sure that you buy it from a reputable place, saving a few bucks from an unknown source can be risky. If you are ordering from the US, Newegg is usually pretty good, and they often have special deals going on with ram and other items.

@ Newegg (They offer extended warranty plans for purchase on all of their products.)

EVGA 122-CK-NF67-T1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i LT SLI ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail - $189.00

Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 Conroe 2.13GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80557E6400 - Retail $187.00

Patriot 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual - Retail DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Timing 4-4-4-12 - $89.99 after $50.00 mail in rebate(Wow this is good)

The lower the latency the better the ram get Cl4 1. based on Elipida on Micron D9 and do not see core clock upcoming k10 will be lowe clockediit doesn't mean its bad E4300 is one f the best C2D get it and with a heatsink u can hit 3.2
