Re: Buying a notebook...

For first three points ... checkout the following

Notebook ReviewNotebookReview.com offers notebook and laptop reviews and ratings, notebook coupons and deals, user reviews, most popular laptops, notebook buying guides, ...
Notebook and Laptop Reviews
Laptop Reviews Directory - Laptop Reviews Directory
Computers Database - Laptop Computers Database
Notebook Forums and Laptop ... - www.forum.notebookreview.com/
Best and Most Popular Laptops on - Notebook and Laptop Reviews

For fourth point ... I suggest
HP Pavillion Series ... (I own HPdv6226tx) I purchased it 3 months back and it was latest then (in India).
A new model has came out in recent days in 15.4" monitor series. (HP United States - Computers, Laptops, Servers, Printers & more) You may want to check that out. I am quit satisfied with my laptops performance. However if you want to post mortem ... visit the links given above.

Two more factors which will be deciding factor beside the points you mentioned
1. Your Budget
2. Your Need

Choose your laptop wisely ... My laptop HP dv6226tx has a good review in notebook review website mentioned above. Any furthur question ... you are welcome.

Re: Buying a notebook...

What type of Processor should I get?
(Celeron / Pentium M / Core Duo / Core 2 Duo)
What's the difference between them? (except for price)
Core 2 Duo's the best, that I know but what about pro's and con's?
Pentium M should be lighter on the power consumption but less powerful, am I right?

Re: Buying a notebook...

I recommond a config with Core 2 Duo ~2GHz, 2 GB RAM & a neat Geforce Go Live 7xxx GPU. It should be enough for 3 years.

You can try:

HP Pavilion dv6500t series

Buy HP Pavilion dv6500t series, HP Pavilion and Compaq Presario Notebook PCs and Laptop Computers direct from the HP Home & Home Office Store

Or check all HP Lappie range: Buy Notebook PCs available in different series direct from the HP Home & Home Office Store

Re: Buying a notebook...

Ok! i've made up my mind: =)) (and my questiones are below the dotted line )
Alienware Area-51 M9750 Review

Overview

The Area-51 M9750 is a top-of-the-line gaming notebook from Alienware. It features an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and is available with dual Nvidia high-performance video cards.

Alienware M9750

Our review unit has with the following specifications:

* Intel Core 2 Duo T7600 (2.33GHz/ 667MHz FSB/ 4MB L2 cache)
* DUAL Nvidia GeForce Go 7950GTX video cards with 512MB DDR3 each (1024MB total) – SLI enabled
* 2GB DDR2-667 RAM (4GB available)
* Two 160GB 7200RPM Hitachi TravelStar SATA hard drives in RAID 0 (RAID 1 available)
* 17” WUXGA (1920x1200) glossy display
* Windows XP Media Center 2005 with TV tuner
* 8X DVD dual layer burner
* Intel PRO/Wireless 4965AGN WLAN
* Internal Bluetooth

Pros:

* Fast gaming performance
* Out-of-this-world case design
* Extremely well built
* Keyboard has a great feel
* Excellent cooling system – system stays cool
* Available with Windows XP
* Relatively thin and light
* Great-looking display

Cons:

* Missing certain dedicated keyboard keys
* Odd number pad layout
* Vertical viewing angles could be better
>>> * Our system as configured is $4,448!!! <<<
Well, good for u BUT NO!
<----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->

What's the difference between:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6xxx and T5xxx or so?
What about nVidia's 8xxx series and 7xxx series?
Are there any 7200 good HDD's available on the market?
Would 7200 HDD's cause a big impact on the power consumption, as opposed to a regular 5400 HDD?
Is there any way I could find out the power consumption of the components I'd like to buy and do the calculations on my own?
I have some more questions but I'll keep them until I've made some more arangements!

Re: Buying a notebook...

Intel E 4XXX and 6XXX are Core architecture based processor made for Desktop. while Intel T5XXX and T7XXX are Core architechture based Santa rosa models for Lappy.
nVIDIA 8XXX and 7XXX are GPU model number today best 1 out there is nVIDIA 8800 Ultra well for laptop the latest is 8400 GM/GT ..while ALienware will provide SLI 7900 GO..
7200 has a gr8 advantage over 5400 the spindel speed of HDD give better speed and thus increase the performance.. Today the latest and the talk of the town is Seagate 7200.11 which wil rule the HDD arena after a while

Believe me ALienware is just a waste of money only for uberrrrrrrrrrrrr rich guys who did not care for money .. If you are among those buy it else get Dell XPS M1310in or M1710in the best budget Gaming laptop.. well its a fact that good gaming isn't possible on larrps LMAO
