man emerge not found
Hi,
I'm trying to install Gentoo from the minimal-cd and after "emerge --sync" it tells me this: * Regenerating GNU info directory index... * Processed 73 info files. * IMPORTANT: 4 config files in '/etc' need updating. * See the CONFIGURATION FILES section of the emerge * man page to learn how to update config files. However, I can't find the emerge man page on the gentoo site or anywhere else and which config files are those? Thanks. |

Unless this "minimal CD" was really shrunk manually after portage installation, "man emerge" should show you the manpage. Anyway, the message is a bit unfortunate IMHO. It means essentially that you should run one of the tools etc-update, dispatch-conf, cfg-update, conf-update, etc-proposals which all do the same (with an increasing order of automatism/complexity): They allow you to semi-manually update the config-files to the new ones (which are currently stored under the names .__cfg* in your system). |
