Cool Seem editing Motorola RZR-V3M/e815/V710, enable Multimedia Studio-MPT, sync with WMP

For XP-SP2 and 2000-SP4
Many mobile phone service providers, cripple their phones with the intention of forcing you to buy their ringtones, wallpapers and other services. This sucks since all of these phones have features that enable them to do these things prior to being crippled....

I thought I was getting all these cool new features but:

- As is, you can't get any of your photos or videos off the damn phone. The purchase of MPT and a USB cable (an ADDITIONAL $30 and $20 from Motorola!) didn't help UNTIL I did the seem edit per this post.

- I THOUGHT I was just getting a new phone with the same plan, but where previously I could access the Internet on a cost-per-minute basis (so I could email photos from the phone to myself), I discovered after my new phone purchase I couldn't access the Internet without buying a service upgrade for an ADDITIONAL monthly fee. So I ended up with a DOWN-GRADE in service with no down-grade in monthly cost to me.

- I thought I was buying a phone that would play music, BUT when I finally figured out how to get music onto it (by reading this post) I discovered that the phone can only hold FOUR songs. WTF?! Then I find out that for ANOTHER $100 I can buy a 1G TransFlash Card for the phone (which is a lot less memory than my iPod.

- Even if I wanted to listen to the 4 songs on my phone, the headphone adapter IS TOO SMALL FOR A STANDARD HEADPHONE JACK! Cost of headphones that work with it? $20 from Motorola!

Additional hardware cost: $170 on top of the "discounted" price I paid for the phone. Think Verizon is making a profit on the peripheral sales?
.

check out the plantronics 590a review I did, bluetooth headset with mic for phone conversations, and awesome stereo sound, can also double up for skype on computer, or playback mp3's from ipod, or... just talk on the phone... oh... and also awesome for gaming too.

Alos buy a data cord from ebay for about 5-10 bucks

Thanks for the great information. I now have the phone I thought I HAD purchased! It has been a long time since I did any machine code editing and it was fun to get into it again.

I can't seem (no pun intended) to get it working. I followed everything to a tee but when I pulled up the seem line to enable the multimedia/ bluetooth thing on my verizon krazr... it was already checked. I tried unchecking it to see if for some reason things were backwards but it didnt do anything. Any ideas? I hacked my V265 before and that worked just fine but I can't get the krazr working.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish with this particular hack... ie...use it in Motorola phone tools... or bluetooth usage... If bluetooth, it may be something to do with the bluetooth stack you are using. If this is for use in Motorola phone tools, you need to make sure you choose the multimedia version of your phone when you select the phone type.... I am not as familiar with the Krazr, but if you can be more specific about what it is you are trying to do, I may be able to offer more detailed help.

Re: Seem editing Motorola RZR-V3M/e815/V710, enable Multimedia Studio-MPT, sync with WMP

I want to be able to put my own ringtons using MPT. well, I figured out that I had to edit another seem as well as what was posted here to enable the phone to read the MPT... So I have MPT working...kinda. I can transfer music to my phone, and I know that it's there because the space available on the phone goes down. But now I just don't know how to access the files (which are in mp3 format) on the phone. The're not under ringtones or in the 'get it now' tab. do I have to enable something else on the phone to view the files I upload?

*** update ***

I use p2kcammander and was able to upload ringtones. So that's all fine and dandy. But now I just need to figure out how to upload normal mp3's and have them play soI can have my phone as a portable music player. I can put the mp3's on the phone, but it's like I just can't access them. The mp3 coding I'm using is standard and I upload them into my k1's audio folder, but I can't access them from my phone... any ideas?

Re: Seem editing Motorola RZR-V3M/e815/V710, enable Multimedia Studio-MPT, sync with WMP

I'm surprised it is not working to transfer mp3 ringtones for you, after I upload from MPT, I just go Tools>Ring Styles>Detail... when selecting ringtones, the ones you have uploaded should be at the very end, after all the stock Motorola tones. From there you should be able to find and select all the new tones you have uploaded.

I don't really use my phone to listen to .mp3's as I have an ipod nano, but I tested it with Windows Media Player as above and it is really good sound quality(depends also on quality of the mp3 file you start with)
If you sync it with Windows Media Player... it converts to wma, but works really really well. Also you can make playists and then sync songs in list with phone. This is the easiest way I know, and if you organize your song library in WMP, you will find it a real easy way to handle your songs.

I tried the sync and that did work.... coolness. The ringtones are on there just fine, it didnt go as smoothly as I wanted but once I got the hang of it is was ok. Now I just have to figure out how to make my iTunes files into .wma.... but thats a different forum. Thanks for your help everyone!
