Windows 8 Crash-Fix

Windows 8, latest version of Microsoft Windows is no exception to frequent crashes. It may simply crash, show a Blue Screen of Death or unexpectedly restart the computer. Follow the solutions given below to diagnose crashes.

Problem with the functioning of computer memory are common. There are basically two ways to detect memory problems, viz.
Run Windows Memory Diagnostic

1. Click the Start button.
2. Type "Windows Memory Diagnostic" in the Search Box.
3. Press ENTER.
4. Click "Restart now and check for problems" button.
5. Your computer will restart and conduct several memory tests.

Remember that DLLs/ ActiveX file registration entries are corrupted. Use the ZombieSoftFix. Check for the registration entries of those files and resolve any issues that are found. I bet after restarting the PC it'll work normal.

Do you use multiple RAMs? Before you decide to replace your RAMs, do check them individually one by one for some period of time.
If you're using a single RAM, do replace it. Memory problems contribute to Windows 8 crashes.

System files corruption causes critical system problems. Use System File Checker to overwrite corrupt system files with their original versions.

1. Insert Windows Installation disc.
2. Open the Start Screen.
3. Type "Command Prompt" in the Search Box.
4. Click the Apps icon.
5. Right click it from the Search Results and click "Run as administrator" on the bottom.
6. Type "SFC /SCANNOW" (without quotes) and press ENTER.

PC Refresh is a unique feature of Windows 8. It resets PC settings, removes third party programs except Windows Store apps.
1. Open the Start Screen.
2. Type "Refresh your PC" in the Search Box.
3. Click the Settings icon.
4. Open it. Follow the wizard.

You may have to check whether Automatic Updates feature is turned on or off. Some of the recently installed updates might be malfunctioning. Incomplete update installation or other technical conflicts may cause this problem.

1. Open the Start Screen.
2. Type "View Installed Updates" in the Search Box.
3. Click the Settings icon.
4. Open it from the Search Results.
5. A list of all installed updates will be prepared. Sort them by date of installation.
6. Uninstall all recently installed updates, if any.

Bad sectors can cause data retrieval problems. Failure to obtain system settings lead Windows 8 crashes. Check your hard disk for errors and fix them with the help of ChkDsk utility.

1. Double click My Computer desktop icon.
2. Right click a partition, say drive C:\
3. Select Properties.
4. Click the Tools tab.
5. Under Error Checking click the "Check" button.
6. Confirm the disk check-up and repair task.
